Recognition

AACSB International and the Federation of Schools of Accountancy

The MAcc Program is accredited by both the AACSB International and the Federation of Schools of Accountancy. The credits obtained are thus recognized by most of the prestigious universities in the United States for further study, as well as for entry into the uniform examination of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).


Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA)

After completing the Part One (six) core courses*, students may request a certifying letter from the School of Accountancy that indicates the equivalent status of Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accountancy (PDPA) completion to enroll in the HKICPA Qualification Program (QP). Eligibility, however, is subject to the final approval of the HKICPA.

*Students are required to complete the Fundamental Business Program (FBP) courses in order to fulfill the competency requirements for admission to HKICPA’s QP.


Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

The ACCA grants the following exemptions to MAcc students who complete the Part One (six) core courses:

  • F1 Accounting in Business
  • F2 Management Accounting
  • F3 Financial Accounting
  • F4 Corporate and Business Law
  • F5 Performance Management
  • F6 Taxation
  • F7 Financial Reporting
  • F8 Audit and Assurance
  • F9 Financial Management


Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

On graduation from the MAcc, students may take the CIMA Masters Gateway fast track route and if successful will:

  • Be awarded 12 papers exemptions from certificate, operational and management level exams;
  • Be awarded the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting


The Association of International Accountants (AIA)

Graduates from Jan 1, 2013 will be awarded 12 papers exemptions (out of 16 papers) from the AIA professional examinations; and will only have to sit the final four papers (Paper 13-16) and have 3 years work experience to gain Professional Membership. 
 

CPA Australia

MAcc program is accredited by CPA Australia. Graduates will be awarded fully 8 segments exemptions at the Foundation Level of CPA Program, and eligible to join as Associate member to start the Professional Level education which comprises 6 segments and the practical experience requirement in order to become a member of CPA Australia.

 

Student Enrichment Activities

Internship Program

Internship placements are offered to outstanding students, which provide a good opportunity to gain international exposure and practical working experience in well established accounting firms located in Hong Kong and mainland China.

Study Tour

Overseas study tour is organized to broaden students’ horizons through company visits and interactions with professionals and local students from the overseas University. Last year, our students gained a rewarding learning experience in Taiwan.

Career Workshop

A range of recruitment talks and career workshops are organized by The Career Planning and Development Centre and the MAcc program to provide students with comprehensive job market information and to equip students with essential skills in interviews, business etiquette etc.

Language Workshop

All kinds of language workshops is organized by The Independent Learning Centre (ILC) and the MAcc program to enhance students’ language proficiency. In addition, a Cantonese Workshop is arranged to help our non-local students adapt to Hong Kong.
