Supporting Documents

Apart from the completion of online application from the system of the Graduate School, applicants are also required to submit the following supporting documents in hard-copy to the Program Office to facilitate the Selection Committee to review and consider their applications. Although the applicants may upload soft-copies via the “Online Application System (in the section of Upload Supporting Documents)”, however, please note that only applications with all required supporting documents attached will be reviewed in each round.
Please always quote the “Application Number” clearly on the supporting documents.
Documents which are not in English or Chinese should be accompanied by an official certified translation in either English or Chinese.

Copy of completed online application form
Copy of Identity Document
Applicants are requested to submit the photocopy of the identity document as given in the online application form such as Identity Card; Passport or other official identity documents.
Resume / Personal Statement
Official Transcripts (with a complete record of courses attended and examination results) and the grading scheme(s) of all tertiary-level studies:
a. CUHK qualifications (Bachelor’s or higher degrees): - Photocopies of transcripts issued by the CUHK are accepted, but “Academic Reports” will not be accepted. The Program Office reserves the right to require applicants to submit the original transcript if deemed necessary.
b. Non-CUHK qualifications: - One official transcript in a sealed envelope of the issuing University, sent directly to the Program Office. The transcript for any exchange studies is also required. Please be reminded that the transcript and the grading scheme must be sealed by the Registry (教務處). Seals from the School or departments are not accepted. And photocopies or electronic copy is also NOT accepted too.
c. For mainland students which the program they are studying in is a "2+2 program", detailed program information must be attached in your supporting documents for further assessment.

GMAT Score report (School Copy)
The ORIGINAL Score report (school copy) must be sent to the Program Office from the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) by mail directly. The GMAT institution code for the MSc Program in Marketing, CUHK is R9H-0W-23. Applicants should quote the GMAT ID and the registered email address for the test in the application materials clearly so that the program office could locate the test report easily.
GRE Score report (Original)
The ORIGINAL Score report must be sent to the Program Office from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) by mail directly. The GRE institution code for The Chinese University of Hong Kong is 3153 and the department code for Department of Marketing is 4305.
ONE of the Score reports/certificates for the fulfillment of English Language Proficiency Requirement for admission:
  • A “PASS” in English of HKALE / HKHLE / CHK Matriculation Examination; or
  • Level “4” or above in the English Language subject of HKDSE Examination; or
  • A degree from a university in Hong Kong or an English speaking country; or
  • An ORIGINAL of Official score report of
    • GMAT Verbal; or
    • TOEFL; or
    • IELTS
Confidential Recommendations

Two confidential recommendations are required to be submitted directly from your referees. The recommendation letters may submit by following methods:

1) Download the “Confidential Recommendations” and complete by the referees and return it to our program office either by mail or email no later than two weeks after the submission of application.

2) Nominate two referees with their information through the “Online System for Applicants”.

  • All documents submitted will not be returned and will be destroyed if the application is unsuccessful.
  • The information we collect from the application form will solely use for the following purposes:
    1. as a basis for selection of applicants for the admission in 2018-2019 to Master of Science Program in Marketing;
    2. for verifying information about the applicant's public examination results and academic record in relevant institutions in Hong Kong and elsewhere;
    3. for identifying records of previous studies as a student in the University or other institutions;
    4. as a part of the applicant's student record upon registration for a program, which will be used for all purposes relating to his/her studies in accordance with the procedures of the University;
    5. if necessary, may be transferred to other units within the University to facilitate verifications, communication, operations, and planning.
