Application Details

The application deadlines are listed as follows:
Early November 2017 (first round)
Early December 2017 (second round and application through the HKPFS)
Early January 2018 (third round; while quota lasts)

The non-refundable application fee is HK$300 per application.

Requirements 

Documents to be submitted
Master’s Degree,
Bachelor’s Degree or
professional qualifications

- An original hard copy of transcript directly sent by the university concerned; and
- a grading scheme for the transcript; and
- a copy of graduation certificate and degree certificate.

English language proficiency

- An original hard copy of TOEFL score report or IELTS test report form
  directly sent by the ETS or the British Council.
- TOEFL institution code: B022

GMAT/GRE
(taken in or after January 2012)
- An original hard copy of score report directly sent by the GMAC or the ETS.
- GMAT institution code: R9H-0W-04
- GRE institution code: 7488
Recommendation
from two referees

- Confidential recommendation forms directly sent by the referees; or
- referees to submit the recommendation forms online.

Other - A copy of the application form;
- the receipt of payment of the application fee (if paid by T/T);
- a preliminary research proposal (to indicate the applicants’ general
  area of research interest, any specific research topics of interest to
  the applicant and the kind of language that they will use to write the thesis);
- a statement of purpose (to state the applicants’ objective in pursuing
  the program of study, their career aspirations, and any other reasons for
  their application);
- a copy of previous written work, such as a thesis, research project report or
  published article (to demonstrate applicants’ research potential and            capability) (if any); and
- a copy of HKID card or other identity documents as given in the
  application form.

Important Note
All the application materials should reach the MPhil-PhD Programs Office on or before the deadlines. Documents submitted via email would not be processed. Wrong address, missing or invalid documents may cause delay to the application process.

The tuition fees of 2016-2017 are as follows:

Students are also required to pay a deposit of HK$450 payable at first registration and returnable at the termination of studies, subject to no claim being outstanding. The balance of this deposit is usually transferred as payment of the Graduation fee.
