A team of five university students won the Champion of the 2016 HSBC Financial Dialogue Case Competition with their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) idea on 14 July 2016 in Hong Kong.

The winning team included two freshmen from the Global Business Studies (GBS) programme, Liam Lo and Marco Po. The team proposed a brand new CSR Scheme, entitled “Social Enterprises Empowerment” Scheme. The Scheme aspires to help local social enterprises to improve their financial performance through providing customised financial advisory services. They were awarded with HKD15,000 cash prize and job shadowing opportunities offered by HSBC.

Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) and Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), the HSBC Financial Dialogue Case Competition introduces participants to the CSR industry and helps them to acquire the necessary skills that are not being taught in formal lectures.

The 2016 HSBC Financial Dialogue Case Competition consisted of two rounds of competitions which took place from June to July this year. Based on a 2,000-word project proposal, 5 teams were selected to enter the final round. In the final round, the selected teams were required to present their full project idea to a judging panel with HSBC executives, CSR specialists and HKFYG representatives.
