Overview

The Centre for Global Family Business (CGFB) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School is dedicated to advancing the long-term success, resilience, and positive societal impact of family enterprises in an increasingly interconnected world. Building on CUHK’s longstanding commitment to family business research and education, the Centre serves as a platform for knowledge creation, talent development, and ecosystem engagement across Asia and beyond.

Positioned at the intersection of globalisation and family enterprise, CGFB seeks to foster deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing business families across generations, cultures, and markets. The Centre promotes dialogue and collaboration among family business leaders, next-generation members, entrepreneurs, scholars, advisors, policymakers, and other stakeholders to address issues shaping the future of family enterprises.

CGFB’s activities span three interconnected areas: research and thought leadership, education and talent development, and ecosystem convening. Through research initiatives, educational programmes, industry engagement, and strategic partnerships, the Centre aims to generate new insights and practical solutions in areas such as globalisation, leadership and succession, innovation and entrepreneurship, sustainability and philanthropy, governance, and long-term stewardship.

A key initiative associated with the Centre is the MSc in Family Business Management (FBM), a pioneering master’s programme designed to prepare future family business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals through an interdisciplinary, globally oriented, and practice-based learning experience. Together, the Centre and the MSc programme aim to strengthen the development of a vibrant family business ecosystem by connecting academic excellence with real-world challenges and opportunities.

Rooted in Asia and connected to the world, CGFB aspires to become a leading platform where diverse perspectives, rigorous research, and practical experience come together to support the flourishing of family enterprises and their contributions to business, communities, and society across generations.
