50 Years of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Journals Published in English

This paper traces 50 years of English language tourism, hospitality and events journals. More than 280 tourism, hospitality and events titles have been published, of which some 220 are still active. Authorship practices have changed, with the near demise of the single authored paper to such an extent that it is now an endangered species. In its place, papers with 4 or more authors are now the norm. The presentation is especially relevant to new and not so new academics who have to adjust to the changed publishing landscape.  The presentation highlights the risks of questionable publishing practices and how they can damage or even destroy one’s career.
