Operation Santa Claus Offers MBA Students Experiential Learning Opportunities

Current MBA student Jason Yeung says in an interview with TopMBA.com that the marketing and finance knowledge he and his teammates have learnt from CUHK MBA has definitely equipped them for taking the Operation Santa Claus MBA Challenge 2014.

A team of current MBA students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School have taken up the challenge to come up with a winning charity campaign by participating in the Operation Santa Claus (OSC) MBA Challenge 2014. It is an annual charity campaign co-organised by the South China Morning Post and Radio Television Hong Kong.

“Santa Rocks” is the MBA student team representing the School in OSC 2014. The members are: Khiem Vu, Ketan Vaid, Gazal Chandra, Monica Dee, Candy Chiu and Jason Yeung.

Team leader Jason Yeung says in an interview with TopMBA.com that the team has signed up for this year’s OSC MBA Challenge because of the opportunity it provides to combine experiential learning with meaningful work that channels the Christmas spirit of good will in the community of Hong Kong and beyond.

Yeung says the team can use the challenge as a simulation of running their own business as well as to hone their interpersonal and team-building skills. The marketing and finance knowledge acquired at the School’s MBA programme has definitely helped them make better decisions in budgeting expenses, sourcing products and planning a marketing strategy.

Besides giving students a great testing ground to exercise their knowledge and skills, the charity campaign can also help MBA students gain valuable experience as they look into to their future careers.

For example, with a background in accountancy prior to joining CUHK MBA, Yeung hopes the qualification can help him change his career path and explore opportunities elsewhere, such as in the finance field.

Yeung feels the MBA programme at CUHK Business School offers the best mixture of international exposure and proximity to Asia’s economic pulse. He believes the 21st century will be a century for Asia and doing an MBA in Hong Kong – —the heart of Asia – —is a wise choice because it enables him to obtain the latest business knowledge and practices in the Asian financial hub… Read More (screen capture)
