CUHK Business School announces the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award 2024-25

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School is delighted to announce the recipients of the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award (FTEA) for the 2024-25 academic year. This prestigious award honours faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to teaching excellence.

The FTEA was introduced in the 2014-15 academic year and has since encouraged faculty members to strive to provide an optimal learning experience for students. The award is a testament to the School’s commitment to inspiring and nurturing the future generation of business leaders. Each year, the School’s students and academic staff nominate outstanding teachers or colleagues for consideration by a selection panel.

Reflections from the awardees

I am deeply honoured to receive the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. For me, teaching is a collaborative journey between students and myself, rather than a simple transfer of knowledge. My philosophy centres on connecting core academic concepts with real-world applications. The greatest reward is seeing my students develop the critical thinking and adaptability needed to thrive in their future careers.
─ Professor Catherine Yeung Wing-man
I am deeply honoured to receive this award. Teaching, for me, is an act of shared inquiry, especially in a field like AI, where students and the instructor learn alongside each other. I am grateful to all my students whose questions, scepticism, and ambition continually reshape how I think, research, and teach.
─ Professor Philip Zhang Renyu
I am honoured to receive the Teaching Excellence Award as it represents a meaningful recognition from colleagues with whom I have the privilege of working closely to advance teaching and learning at CUHK Business School. I have strived to foster an engaging learning environment where students can experiment and refine their negotiation skills. It is both humbling and inspiring to learn that my efforts are valued.
─ Professor Hoonie Kang Sanghoon
