CUHK Business School to host leading global tourism research conference TTRA 2028 in Hong Kong
The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School has successfully secured the bid to host the 2028 Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA) International Conference in Hong Kong.
Debuting in Asia for the first time in its nearly 60-year history, the TTRA conference is expected to bring together leading researchers, educators, destination marketers and industry practitioners from around the world to explore emerging trends and innovations shaping the future of travel and tourism.
This milestone underscores the School’s international leadership in tourism and hospitality research, as well as its commitment to propelling Hong Kong’s prominence as an international hub for tourism, hospitality, and higher education. As the first Asian host of the TTRA International Conference, CUHK Business School looks forward to welcoming the global tourism research community to Hong Kong in 2028.
Adding to this achievement, Professor Robert Li Xiang, director of SHTM, has officially assumed the presidency of TTRA. His presidency further reflects the School’s commitment to advancing tourism research with global impact. Working closely with international colleagues and industry leaders, Professor Li will play an active role in advancing tourism research and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry on the global stage.

The association connects more than 1,600 members from over 30 countries, including tourism scholars, destination management organisations, policymakers and industry professionals.
