CUHK Business School undergraduates triumph at three international case competitions

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School undergraduates delivered outstanding performances at three internationally renowned case competitions in February 2026, securing second runner-up in the United States and first runner-up positions in both Canada and Spain.

In just one month, 12 talented students demonstrated exceptional analytical skills, strategic thinking, and composure under pressure, competing against top global universities and returning with podium results from each competition.

Second runner-up at the McDonough Business Strategy Challenge (MBSC) 2026 – Washington, D.C., United States

From 1 to 7 February, Jessica Cheuk (IBBA, Year 3), Matthias Chong (IBCE, Year 3), Lauren Ho (IBBA, Year 3), and Shing-him Lee (QFRM, Year 3) competed at Georgetown University’s McDonough Business Strategy Challenge, the nation’s largest undergraduate non-profit case competition. Facing 60 students from 15 elite international universities, they proposed innovative, cost-effective solutions to governance inefficiencies, funding shortages, and membership stagnation for a non-profit.

First runner-up at the CaseIT MIS Case Competition 2026 – Vancouver, Canada

From 15 to 21 February, Ryan Chi (GBS, Year 3), Panitsiree Choochua (IBBA, Year 3), James Li (IFAA, Year 2), and Jasmine Wong (BBAJD, Year 2) excelled at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. They tackled a 6-hour case on digital platform transformation for Pragilis and a 24-hour case enhancing financial information systems for the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, earning first runner-up among 16 leading global institutions.

First runner-up at the IE Business Case Competition (IEBCC) 2026 – Madrid, Spain

From 23 to 27 February, Yan Hung Lui (GBS, Year 3), Jason Siu (QFRM, Year 3), Eunice Wai (IBCE, Year 4), and Yoyo Zhang (GBS, Year 3) competed at IE Business School. They tackled a 5-hour case on sustainable growth for Alma Carraovejas, balancing profitability and brand prestige. Followed by 12-hour case crafting long-term strategies for Amazon, integrating efficiency, customer focus and sustainability. They secured first runner up among 12 premier business schools worldwide.
