Global Business Programmes Set up Their External Advisory Board

Global Business Studies and International Business and Chinese Enterprise programmes have recently set up an Advisory Board in support of their mission and goals.

The Global Business Programmes of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School, Global Business Studies (GBS) and International Business and Chinese Enterprise (IBCE), have recently set up an Advisory Board in support of their mission and goals.

Chaired by Dr. John Lai, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies) and Director of Global Business Programmes at CUHK Business School, the board comprised 5 alumni from each programme for a term of two years. Each academic year, the Advisory Board will hold at least two meetings. They will give advice and support on the curriculum design, student internship and career opportunities, student-alumni relations, programme promotion etc. The Board plays a vital role in connecting the experience of our current students and alumni, helping the programmes to be forward-looking and internationally relevant.

The following alumni have committed to supporting CUHK Business School and the programmes as Board members:

I) Global Business Studies Programme

George Lam, BBA – Global Business Studies 2009

George Lam, CFA, FRM is a Portfolio Manager at LMR Partners, a global multi-strategy hedge fund, where he runs equities and equities derivatives relative value strategies. He applies both fundamental analysis and quantitative methods through cash equities, vanilla & exotics options trading. Prior to joining LMR Partners, George was a Vice President at J.P. Morgan managing Hong Kong single stocks derivatives portfolio. George obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration, with Double Major in Global Business Studies & Quantitative Finance from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in December 2008.

Katie Sham, BBA – Global Business Studies 2011

Katie Sham is an Engagement Manager based in Oliver Wyman’s Hong Kong office. She has worked in strategy consulting for five years with previous banking experience. Katie’s expertise includes business strategy development, market and competitive landscaping, organisational study, process improvement, and financial modelling in both the retail and consumer goods sectors. She has worked in Hong Kong, China, South-East Asia, New Zealand and Europe. Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Katie was a Consultant with OC&C Strategy Consultants. Katie graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor’s degree in Global Business Studies.

Boris Ng, BBA – Global Business Studies 2014

Boris Ng, Associate, is a member of the Strategic Product Management (SPM) team for Asia Pacific at BlackRock, where he drives product development and innovation, and helps bring greater strategic discipline and insight to the firm’s global product offerings. Prior to joining BlackRock, Boris interned with a number of asset management and corporate finance companies. Boris obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Business Studies from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014.

Jocelyn Ng, BBA – Global Business Studies 2014

Jocelyn Ng is working as an Administrative Officer in the HKSAR Government, where she focuses on policy work relating to transport capital projects and in securing resources for highway infrastructure projects under the Transport and Housing Bureau. From 2014 to 2016, Jocelyn engaged in district administration and liaison work as the Assistant District Officer of Yau Tsim Mong, particularly in providing administrative support to the 2015 District Council Election and 2016 Legislative Council General Election. Jocelyn obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Business Studies from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014.

Cynthia Ng, BBA – Global Business Studies 2014

Cynthia Ng has joined the Investment Strategy Group at Goldman Sachs since 2015. In particular, she offers asset allocation solutions to APAC clients and oversees more than 100 discretionary multi-asset class portfolios. Prior to that, Cynthia has completed her Master of Philosophy studies at the University of Cambridge on a scholarship. Her MPhil final thesis, which explored the challenges of foreign corporates in India through the lens of anthropology, was awarded Distinction. Cynthia obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Business Studies. Cynthia is an avid traveller and yogi.

 

II) International Business and Chinese Enterprise Programme

Christopher Wong, BBA – International Business and Chinese Enterprise 2013

Christopher Wong is currently Business Strategy Manager at Redspots Creative, contributing to corporate strategy formulation, product development, and fundraising for an augmented reality (AR) mobile platform in social/advertising. Prior to joining Redspots, he was an Account Associate at Google Hong Kong, helping domestic large clients grow their business performance online. Christopher obtained a Master of International Business from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

 

Kelvin Kong, BBA – International Business and Chinese Enterprise 2013

Kelvin Kong is currently Assistant Vice President, Corporate Banking at United Overseas Bank covering a portfolio of blue-chip property developers and real estate private equity funds. He is responsible for client coverage, deal origination, structuring and execution of corporate finance and real estate transactions. Prior to starting his career in UOB as Management Associate, Kelvin interned in the audit and banking field during his undergraduate studies. Kelvin obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Chinese Enterprise from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2013.

 

Janice Sue Wong, BBA – International Business and Chinese Enterprise 2014

Janice Sue Wong believes in the power of business and technology in  creating value and driving changes.

Janice is a consultant with Accenture Strategy, advising multi-national companies and Chinese enterprises on various strategic topics from digital transformation, market entry to cost reduction by presenting new opportunities that arise at the intersection of business and technology. Prior to joining Accenture, Janice has developed cross-industry insights through her working experience in the private sector (private banking, accounting, risk consulting) and the social sector (United Nations in New York City for an NGO, social enterprise).

Janice is an advocate for social innovation. She is currently serving on the Corporate Citizenship team of Accenture.
Janice graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (First Class) in International Business and Chinese Enterprise.

Eric Kwan, BBA – International Business and Chinese Enterprise 2015

After graduation, Eric Kwan joined Goldman Sachs as a graduate analyst in AEJ Securities Operations. He handled trade allocation, inventory management and settlement of equities and fixed income for institutional clients, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and proprietary trading desks. He assisted the trade flows in 15 AEJ countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. During his time with GS, he was a member of the analyst advisory group in People Development Committee.

Eric is now an Equity Sales Dealer at Plantinum. He provides market updates and advises clients on their equity portfolios. He executes dealing orders globally in 11 major markets. Eric graduated from IBCE Batch 2 at 2015.

Cherry Tong, BBA – International Business and Chinese Enterprise 2015

Cherry Tong is currently a fixed income trader at HSBC Global Markets. She also rotated in Global Markets Corporate Services and Cash Equities sales team. Before graduation, she interned at Standard Chartered Bank and New World Development Group.
