In memory of Professor Zhu Chunmei
It is with profound sadness that the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School mourns the passing of Professor Zhu Chunmei, assistant professor in the School of Accountancy.
Professor Zhu joined CUHK Business School in 2020, embarking on what was to become a promising academic career. In the years that followed, she became a deeply valued member of our community, contributing passionately through her research, teaching, and service.
As a dedicated accounting scholar, Professor Zhu explored critical questions concerning corporate disclosure, debt contracting, credit default swaps, and the role of regulation in financial reporting. Her impactful research was published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Accounting Research and Contemporary Accounting Research.
In the classroom, she brought that same unwavering commitment to her students. Teaching across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, her exceptional dedication was recognised with the Faculty Teaching Merit Award.
Professor Zhu’s passing is an immense loss to our School. We mourn not only a talented scholar and dedicated educator, but also a bright, young colleague whose academic journey held boundless promise. Our deepest condolences go out to Professor Zhu’s family and loved ones. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to her colleagues, students, friends, and everyone whose life she touched. May they find comfort in their shared memories and in the lasting impact she made during her time with us.
