Professor Zoe Yang awarded RGC Overseas Research Fellowship to advance global research - CUHK Business School

Professor Zoe Yang of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School has been awarded funding under the Research Grants Council’s (RGC) Overseas Research Fellowship Scheme (ORFS) for the 2026/27 academic year. The prestigious fellowship recognises her research excellence and will support collaborations with leading international scholars.

Launched by the RGC this year on a pilot basis for three academic years, the ORFS aims to promote the internationalisation of Hong Kong’s publicly funded universities by supporting mid-career scholars in undertaking research and collaboration at overseas institutions. Through these experiences, fellows can broaden their global perspectives, deepen their understanding of emerging research trends and boost the visibility of Hong Kong universities. For the 2026/27 academic year, six CUHK scholars were selected for the fellowship.

Professor Yang, Associate Professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, focuses her research on the intersection of urban infrastructure, sustainable transportation, property markets and consumer behaviour. During the fellowship period, she will further develop several ongoing projects that leverage large-scale urban data and empirical analysis to examine housing market dynamics, transport infrastructure and urban sustainability. The fellowship will also enable her to deepen collaborations with researchers at the University of British Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania and the National University of Singapore.

Professor Yang said: “I am very honoured to receive the RGC Overseas Research Fellowship. It provides a valuable opportunity to deepen my research, learn from leading scholars overseas, and bring back comparative insights that are relevant to Hong Kong’s urban and sustainability challenges.
