SHTM awards inaugural “Living Labs Grants” to advance hospitality innovation

The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School has awarded two interdisciplinary research projects under its inaugural “Living Labs@CUHK SHTM Grant Competition,” with each project receiving HK$100,000.

Conducted in partnership with Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin, the two winning projects will test their innovative solutions which aim to tackle operational challenges in the hospitality industry in an authentic teaching hotel environment. The initiative underscores SHTM’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and to advancing CUHK’s strategic research priorities through applied, industry-engaged research.

Professor Robert Li Xiang, director of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, said: “The Living Labs@CUHK SHTM Grant Competition represents a bold step forward for SHTM. With innovation at its core, the programme reinforces our commitment to research that is both academically rigorous and operationally impactful. We welcome colleagues across CUHK to collaborate and help drive research that delivers both scholarly excellence and real-world impact.”
