Biography

Professor Hongbo (Daisy) Liu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. Prior to joining CUHK, she was a Senior Lecturer in Hospitality at Surrey Business School, University of Surrey. She received her PhD in Business Administration from Temple University, following a master’s degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management from Fudan University.

Professor Liu’s research explores how technology reshapes consumer experiences and behaviors in tourism and hospitality across various technology-mediated contexts, ranging from social media and user-generated content to generative AI and other emerging technologies. She also has a strong interest in cultural and cross-cultural studies. Her research has been published in leading tourism and hospitality journals, including Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Annals of Tourism Research, and International Journal of Hospitality Management. Her research has received support from the British Academy, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC).

Professor Liu currently serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Hospitality Marketing & Management, and International Journal of Tourism Research.
