Prof. Kenneth Tse was the Managing Director of Yantian International Container Terminals, a joint venture between the HK Hutchison Group and PRC Shenzhen Government. Prof. Tse took up the overall responsibility for the company – the day-to-day management as well as growth and expansion of the HK$30 billion infrastructure investment in South China. He managed the infrastructure development from initiation in 1993 and grew the company to a major container terminal in the PRC (2nd in National Ranking), with excellent operational and financial results. As the chief executive responsible for the port’s developments into Phases 2, 3 and Phase 3 Expansion, Prof. Tse led Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) through very dynamic growth phases. From a green site, YICT is now one of the premier world class container ports in South China. For its performance and productivity achievements, YICT was awarded “Global Terminal of the Year” by the Global Institute of Logistics in 2005 and the Best Terminal Operator by China’s National Port Association. Active in community affairs in Hong Kong and in Shenzhen, Prof. Tse was elected an Executive Member of the Shenzhen Political Consultative Council and President of the Shenzhen Port Association.
