Lee, Yi-shan


Prof. Yi-Shan Lee is an Assistant Professor of Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her PhD in Economics from the University of Zurich. Prior to that, she received her MA and BA in Economics from the National Taiwan University.

Her research interests lie in the areas of experimental economics, microeconomics and decision sciences, with a particular focus on critical issues in the information economy. Overall, her research aims to extend our understanding of economic decisions involving goods and services to tradeoffs involving the modern usage of information.

Prof. Hwang Kim is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. His major research interests include Social Network Analysis and Its applications to marketing problems. Also, his recent research focuses on modelling consumers’ transactional behaviours of financial products (e.g., insurance) and salesforce turnover in the Chinese insurance industry. He is teaching Marketing Management and Database Marketing at CUHK Business School and is scheduled to teach Social Media Marketing.

He earned a BS degree in Cloth and Textile in Seoul National University in Korea, and obtained his PhD degree in Marketing from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management. Prior to joining Johnson, he worked for two years as a fashion designer in Korea.

Kim, Keehyung


Prof. Keehyung Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. His research draws from disciplines of economics, psychology, and machine learning to shed light on decision-making behaviours in online & mobile platforms as well as consumer marketplace. His research has been published or is forthcoming at Management Science. He has taught Big Data Management, Business Information Systems, and Programming in Java & Python for the past years. He won a number of Teaching Awards at the CUHK Business School and the Wisconsin School of Business. He received his PhD in Operations and Information Management from the Wisconsin School of Business, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to that, he received MS in Computer Science from Seoul National University, and BS in Computer Science (with minor in Business Economics) from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

Du, Timon Chih-ting


Prof. Timon Du is a Professor of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. He was born and raised in Taiwan. He received his MSE and PhD degrees in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University (US) in 1992 and 1995, respectively. He was the Director of MSc in e-Commerce, Director of MSc in e-Business Management, Director of EMBA (Asia Pacific), Co-director of EMBA (Xian), and Director of EMBA (Chinese), offered by the same faculty. He teaches courses such as strategic information system and e-commerce offered to MBA and EMBA students and database management to undergraduate students. He was the President of International Consortium for Electronic Business involving members from more than 20 countries. His research interests are business intelligence, privacy and security, e-commerce, information sharing, subject well-being, and IT education. He has published many papers in leading international journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Communications of the ACM, IIE Transactions, International Journal of Production Research, and others. He also has many books published, including Management Education in Greater China (The Chinese University Press), Advances in Electronic Business (IGI Global), and Becoming a Hybrid Company: Competition Strategies in A Digital Age (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform). Currently, he is the Executive Editor for the International Journal of Electronic Business.

Kim, Keongtae


Prof. Keongtae Kim is currently an Assistant Professor in Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. Prior to joining CUHK, he was an Assistant Professor at Department of Information Systems at the City University of Hong Kong. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea, and his MS in Management Engineering from KAIST Business School, South Korea. He earned his PhD in Information Systems from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. His main research focuses on crowdfunding/crowdsourcing, digital innovation/entrepreneurship, FinTech, Economics of AI/ML, and IT business value. His research has been published at Information Systems Research and MIS Quarterly.

Lai, Vincent Siu-king


Prof. Vincent S. Lai is a Professor of MIS at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He was also a former Associate Dean of the Graduate Programmes and Founding Director of the MSc Programme in Electronic Commerce at CUHK Business School. Prior to joining CUHK in 1996, he taught at the Miami University and the University of Alabama-Huntsville respectively. His current research focuses on innovation assimilation, online auctions, technology imitation, virtual collaboration, and global IS strategy. His findings in these research areas have been published extensively in IS journals, including Journal of MIS, Information and Management, Communications of the ACM, Decision Support Systems, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, among others.

Zhang, Michael Xiaoquan


Prof. Michael Zhang is a Professor of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He holds a PhD in Management from MIT Sloan School of Management, an MSc in Management, a BE in Computer Science and a BA in English from Tsinghua University. Before joining the academia, he worked as an analyst for an investment bank, and as an international marketing manager for a high-tech company. He holds a US patent, and cofounded several companies in Social Networking, FinTech, and LegalTech.

Prof. Zhang’s research interests are on issues related to creation, dissemination and processing of information in business and management contexts. His works study pricing of information goods, online advertising, innovation and incentives, and the use of artificial intelligence in financial markets. His research has appeared in American Economic Review, Management Science, Journal of Marketing, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of MIS, Decision Support Systems, and Journal of Interactive Marketing. He has also been actively involved in professional services, including serving as a Senior Editor for Information Systems Research, an Associate Editor for Management Science, a Guest Associate Editor for MIS Quarterly.

Prof. Zhang offered advice to the following organisations: Hong Kong Cyberport, Jingdong Finance, Alibaba Group’s Lakeside (Hu Pan) University, Huawei, China Mobile, China Merchants Securities, Douban.com, and Radica Systems. He serves as an independent director for NASDAQ-listed e-commerce company Secoo (symbol: SECO)

Cheung, Waiman


Prof. Waiman Cheung is the Executive Director of The Asia-Pacific Institute of Business, Director of Asian Institute of Supply Chains & Logistics, Director of Centre of Cyber Logistics, Director of Studies in Graduate Studies in Business and Head, Graduate Division of Business Administration. Currently he is also the Professor of the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics in the Faculty of Business Administration, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prof. Cheung holds an MBA and a PhD in Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His research interests are mainly in aviation, logistics, supply chain management and information technology.

Prior to joining The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Cheung had worked as a technical staff for Oracle Systems in the US. He is very keen on working closely with local industries for knowledge transfer and has conducted studies and consulting works for DHL, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Dragonair, Accenture, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd., SML Group Ltd., and the Innovation and Technology Commission of Hong Kong. His research interests are mainly in applying IT on logistics and supply chain management.
