Lin, Yunduan(林韵端)

Biography

Professor Yunduan Lin joined the Department of Decisions, Operations and Technology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School as an Assistant Professor in August 2024. Professor Lin received her PhD and MS degrees from the University of California, Berkeley and her BEng from Tsinghua University.

Her research centres on societal operations management, specifically on social network analytics and platform operations. She aims to create a more precise reflection of the interconnected societal systems, which, in turn, enables improved decision-making for business problems.

Tang, Wei(唐偉)

Biography

Wei Tang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Decisions, Operations and Technology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. Before joining CUHK, he spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University. He received his PhD. in Computer Science at Washington University in St. Louis. His research focuses on designing desired algorithms for decision-making schemes in dynamic, uncertain, and human-centric environments. His work has won an Honourable Mention for Best Paper Award at the AAAI Conference on Human Computation and Crowdsourcing (HCOMP), and he was selected as a rising star in Data Science at UChicago, Data Science Institute in 2021.

Wang, Victoria Jian(王劍)

Biography

Professor Victoria Wang is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Management. Professor Wang obtained her PhD from Federation University, Australia, with a research focus on cross-cultural leadership and people effectiveness in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

Professor Wang had an impressive 30-year career driving growth, transformation, and people and organisation development in esteemed companies such as IBM, DuPont and HAVI. She has been a prominent member on various global leadership boards, company Board of Directors, Global Logistics Council, Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Council. With extensive general management, P&L, and cross-functional experience, including over a decade in cross-cultural global leadership, Professor Wang’s strategic leadership encompasses a deep understanding of global business management, sustainability, cross-cultural dynamics, people and organisation development, mergers and acquisitions, transformation and change management, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as women in leadership.

To pursue her passion for people and leverage her leadership experience to support the future leadership development, Professor Wang started teaching China Business with CUHK as part of the Undergraduate Programmes since August 2023. She became a LEAP advisor with MBA Programme since February 2024 and an Adjunct Associate Professor since April 2024. Her teaching areas also include sustainability, experiential learning and business practicum with CUHK Master’s and MBA Programmes. Professor Wang is also a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) assisting the transformational development of future leaders.

Chen, Zhi(陳植)

Biography

Prof. Zhi Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Decisions, Operations and Technology, CUHK Business School, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He obtained his PhD from NUS Business School, National University of Singapore and his BE from Tsinghua University, China.

His primary research involves developing models and designing algorithms for analytics under uncertainty with different levels of data availability as well as applications in business, economics, finance, and operations. He is also interested in how to compete or cooperate in joint activities such as resource allocation and risk management. His works appear in journals such as INFORMS Journal on Computing, Management Science, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Mathematical Finance, Transportation Science, and TRB.

Li, Anran(李安然)

Biography

Prof. Anran Li is an associate professor at the Department of Decisions, Operations and Technology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. Prior to joining CUHK, she was a faculty member at the Department of Management, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prof. Li received her PhD in Operations Research from Columbia University in 2017.

Prof. Li is broadly interested in designing algorithms and analysing data in order to optimise supply chain decisions. More precisely, Prof. Li focuses on developing and estimating consumer choice models using econometric tools, optimising assortment and recommendation for both traditional retailing and online digital platform, and creating a fair marketplace for all shareholders. Prof. Li’s research has been published in leading journals such as Operations Research and Management Science. Prof. Li is passionate about bringing impacts to practice through the work. She is an active external researcher and scientist for a number of companies, including Hewlett Packard, SAS Institute, Sabre Airline Solutions and Jet.com.

Prof. Li has served as reviewer for premier journals such as Operations Research and Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and Production and Operations Management. Prof. Li is the co-organiser of the 2023 INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing (RM&P) Section Conference.

Cheung, Leong(張亮)

Chapter Honoree_Leong Cheung

Biography

Professor Leong Cheung is currently the Chief Strategy Officer in the Exchange Fund Investment Office of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. He was the Executive Director of Charities & Community at The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) from 2014 to 2022. In this capacity, he co-founded and served as the co-chair of the Hong Kong Chapter of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

Prior to joining the HKJC, Professor Cheung was the Operating Partner of Bain Capital. Before that, he was the Managing Director of Global Sourcing & Supply Chain at Esquel Group, the founder and CEO of an education focused internet venture, and a senior consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.

Professor Cheung is active in the community. He is the co-founder of RunOurCity, an innovative social enterprise with the aim of transforming life through running. He currently serves as the chairperson of the HKSAR Government’s Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food. He is an Advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation, former independent Director of Kerry Properties (HKSE 0683) and the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited. He was a Council and Court (Deputy Chairman) member of the Lingnan University.

Professor Cheung graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Business Administration and obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.
