During the Asian financial crisis in 1997–1998, the American private equity firm Newbridge Capital sought to acquire Korea First Bank. From a high-stakes deal to a massively profitable investment, this legendary transaction was orchestrated by Weijian Shan, and unveiled in his latest publication Money Games: The Inside Story of How American Dealmakers Saved Korea’s Most Iconic Bank. The Chinese edition will be launched at the event.

Weijian Shan is the Chairman and CEO of Pacific Alliance Group (PAG), a leading Asian private equity firm that manages US$45 billion for some of the world’s largest private and institutional investors. Prior to PAG, Dr. Shan was a managing director of JP Morgan, partner of TPG, and co-managing partner of TPG Asia, formerly known as Newbridge Capital. He holds a PhD degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and taught at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for six years. He is also the author of the bestseller Out of the Gobi: My Story of China and America.
