Developing and Testing the Effectiveness of Theory-Driven Behaviour Change Interventions for Food Waste Reduction

School of Hotel and Tourism Management

Seminar Abstract

Food waste is a serious issue in the tourism industry and has attracted considerable global attention. In this seminar, Oscar, a postdoctoral researcher from the University of Queensland, will share his research on developing theory-driven behavioural change interventions for food waste reduction. Specifically, he will discuss key studies he has conducted over the past few years on how to design and test effective behavioural interventions for reducing food waste. He will also share his experiences in 1) deploying behavioural interventions in the field in collaboration with industry partners, and 2) leveraging multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance the efficiency of data collection.

Speaker Profile

Dr Yuheng Zhu (朱禹衡) is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Queensland, Australia. During his PhD, he was part of the Australian Laureate Project (Making a Sustainable Tourist) under the supervision of Professor Sara Dolnicar. His research primarily focuses on developing and testing theory-driven behaviour change interventions to encourage more environmentally friendly behaviour among tourists, with a particular emphasis on food waste reduction. His work includes obtaining real behavioural data through field experiments, which often involves close collaboration with industry partners and researchers from Engineering.
