Biography

Jeremy Cheng is the Founder and Principal Consultant of GEN+ Family Business Advisory & Research, an independent advisory firm striving to advance sustainability and knowledge of Asian families and their service firms.  Prior to founding GEN+, Jeremy led family business centers in Hong Kong, responsible for organising events, programs, and research projects.

Jeremy is a Board Member of FFI (2023-2027), the oldest and most prestigious multidisciplinary professional association for family enterprise globally.  He is also a Faculty member of FFI’s Global Education Network, Founding Chair of the FFI Asian Circle, and member of the FFI Nominating Committee (2019).  He has been granted the Fellow status of FFI since October 2019, the first honoree in Hong Kong and amid the highly select group of less than 300 advisors, scholars, and family members receiving this top qualification globally.  He is the recipient of the FFI Barbara Hollander Award 2021, recognising his profound interest in family business and his love for education and learning.  Jeremy was also a member of the research committee (survey and case committees) of the Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP) Project, a global family business research consortium with almost 40 university affiliates.

Jeremy earned his PhD from CUHK, with research focusing on governing families-in-business in transition.  He holds an International MBA with Distinction from Victoria University of Wellington, a Master of Arts in Linguistics, a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology, and an Advanced Diploma in Professional Financial Planning, all from CUHK.  He also holds an Advanced Certificate in Family Business Advising (ACFBA), an Advanced Certificate in Family Wealth Advising (ACFWA), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Research and Professional Studies in Education from University of Bristol.  He has been admitted as a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Marketing in the United Kingdom in June 2024 and has been granted the Chartered Marketer status since July 2010.
