Biography

Robin is Courtesy Joint Professor in the Finance Depart of CUHK Business School, and also Professor (Band A3) at the Faculty of Law, CUHK. Prior to joining CUHK in 2010, he was a tenured staff member in the Faculty of Law at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where he now holds a position of Adjunct Professor. He is also Li Ka Shing Visiting Professor in McGill Law School, Honorary Professor at East China University of Political Science and Law, as well as visiting positions at many prestigious institutions such as Harvard Law and Oxford Law. He received two bachelor degrees – in mechanical engineering and in law – and a Masters degree in law, from Tsinghua University, and a PhD in law from UNSW.

Professor Huang is an internationally recognized expert specializing in corporate and financial law with a focus on Chinese and comparative issues. He has published more than 150 journal articles and books in top-rated journals in various jurisdictions and well-respected international publishing houses, including  Securities and Capital Markets Law in China (Oxford University Press, 2014), Fintech Regulation in China: Principles, Policies and Practices (Cambridge University Press, 2021) and China’s Development and Regulation of Cross-border Listings: Policies, Practices and Prospects (Cambridge University Press) (forthcoming).

His research has high impact locally and internationally, having informed judicial decisions as well as regulatory and legislative activities (e.g., cited with approval by the High Court of the Republic of Singapore, Delaware Chancery Court in the US, Southern District Court of New York). He has also been engaged as an expert advisor by international organizations (e.g., World Bank), the Supreme People’s Court of China (Expert for Ascertainment of Foreign Law), and Shanghai Financial Court (Member of Advisory Committee). He serves as Independent Non-executive Director for China Travel International Investment Hong Kong Limited and Mao Geping Cosmetics Co., Ltd.
