Biography

Mr Anthony Lau is the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), leading the organisation in promoting Hong Kong as a premier international city and a world-class destination for both business and leisure travellers.

Mr Lau spearheads the development of HKTB’s strategies, guiding the organisation in promoting Hong Kong in line with the direction set out in the Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0 and emerging tourism trends with creative strategies and campaigns. Mr Lau also works closely with the Government and members of tourism and related sectors to promote Hong Kong to visitors from around the world and drive the development of the tourism industry.

A veteran business executive and marketing professional, with extensive international sales and marketing expertise as well as management experiences, Mr Lau began his career in Hong Kong with Philip Morris International in the 1980s. Apart from Hong Kong, Mr Lau also worked in different markets in Asia Pacific, including Indonesia, Taiwan and Singapore. Mr Lau joined the HKTB as the Executive Director from 2007 to 2019 and he was the Director of Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE), an office under the Labour and Welfare Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, from October 2023 to July 2025.

Born in Hong Kong, Mr Lau was educated in the United Kingdom and Canada, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.
