92 Form Three to Form Five students from local secondary schools attended the three-day EconBiz@CUHK Business School summer day camp from July 5 to 7. Co-organised by the CUHK Business School’s Undergraduate Office and Program for Economic Education, Economic Research Center, Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies (HKIAPS), the summer camp introduced students to concepts in economics, policy making, and business knowledge in a series of lectures and workshops, while offering a taste to the university life at CUHK.

Students were first offered a warm welcome at the opening ceremony by Prof. Michael Fung, Director of Program for Economic Education. Designed to further develop students’ knowledge in the economic and business aspects in the global market, the economic and business lectures helped students explore and learn different business concepts, while the interactive lectures featuring public policies allowed students to critically evaluate different public issues in Hong Kong, such as how the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) affected the local economy.

Apart from attending lectures, participants also took part in a number of various activities during the camp. One of the highlighted activities was the CU Hunt, where students enjoyed quality time bonding and mingling with each other while completing tasks at various checkpoints at CUHK’s famous landscapes and sceneries. During the Interview Training Workshop, students were offered practical tips on how to prepare themselves for various types of interviews. To encourage innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit, young entrepreneurs, who are also alumni of CUHK Business School, were invited to share their experience on starting their own businesses, and advices on overcoming challenges in both their personal and professional lives. Elite undergraduate Business students also shared many practical tips on preparing the HKDSE.

The summer camp concluded with the Award Presentation Ceremony, with Prof. Dennis Fan, Associate Dean of Business School, presenting awards to teams with outstanding performances during the camp.
