2023 AsRES-GCREC Joint International Real Estate Conference Connects 520 Experts to Foster Exchange and Collaboration
The 2023 AsRES-GCREC Joint International Real Estate Conference was held from 13-16 July 2023. It was a resounding success, bringing over 520 academic scholars and industry professionals together to exchange ideas and build meaningful connections.
The conference was hosted by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management and the Centre for Hospitality and Real Estate Research of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. It sought to gather academia and experts from the industry to share insights and explore research collaborations under four themes: Future of Cities, PropTech and Innovation, Diversity and Inclusion, as well as Sustainability.
The conference commenced with keynote speeches by Mr. Shih Wing-Ching, Founder and Chairman of Centaline Group, and Prof. Kalok Chan, Wei Lun Professor of Finance at CUHK Business School. Throughout the four-day event, participants engaged in eight stimulating panel discussions, over 60 insightful paper sessions, and an array of networking opportunities including delightful dinners and visit to the Hong Kong Palace Museum. The AsRES Closing Luncheon, which marked the end of the eventful conference, featured a keynote speech by Prof. Sumit Agarwal, Professor of Economics and Real Estate and Low Tuck Kwong Distinguished Professor of Finance at the National University of Singapore.
Meanwhile, a carbon emission audit is being conducted with the support of the conference sustainability partner, Riskory Consultancy Limited. Carbon-offsetting measures will be advised and implemented to make the conference the first carbon-neutral event of CUHK Business School.
The success of the conference is attributed to the unwavering dedication and support of all those involved. Special recognition goes to the late Director and Professor of Hotel and Tourism Management, Prof. David Chan, whose exceptional leadership and guidance were key to making this remarkable event possible. Gratitude is also extended to Prof. Ko Wang and Prof. Rose Lai of GCREC and AsRES, respectively, for their instrumental role in establishing this valuable platform.
