CUHK Business School new undergraduates set sail at Inauguration Ceremony

On 25 August 2024, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School celebrated the arrival of more than 700 new undergraduates from 23 countries and regions at the Inauguration Ceremony. More than 300 parents joined the occasion to witness the proud moments as their children officially became CUHK Business School students.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome remark by Professor Zhou Lin, dean of CUHK Business School. He highlighted the School’s commitment to nurturing future business leaders through cutting-edge programmes and thought-provoking learning experiences. “At CUHK Business School, you are empowered to unlock your full potential and unveil a world of future opportunities. Seize every opportunity, make meaningful connections, and most importantly, enjoy this transformative journey ahead.”

During the ceremony, the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma CUHK Chapter Honoree Award 2024 was presented to Mr Albert Ng (BBA in Accounting 1981, MBA 1988), a distinguished alumnus and former Chairman of EY China. Drawing from his wealth of professional experiences, Mr Ng highlighted the importance of lifelong learning to the new cohort. He said, “Embrace change and adopt a mindset of lifelong learning. These are key to navigating not just your education, but your future careers as well.”

The ceremony reached a poignant moment with the badge presentation ceremony, where Mr Albert Ng, along with faculty members, bestowed the School’s badges upon student representatives on stage. This cherished tradition commemorates the responsibility, professionalism, and commitment the students embrace as they embark on their pursuit of a future career in business.

In closing, Dr Fred Ku, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of CUHK Business School, reminded the students that business education is not solely about generating revenue. Use the knowledge and skills you acquire here to contribute positively to the communities around you.”

The ceremony concluded on a high note, with a beautiful music performance by talented students from the CUHK Business School and the CUHK Music Department, leaving the new cohort inspired and excited for the adventures that await them.
