CUHK Global Business Studies celebrates 20th anniversary and new partnership
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School’s Global Business Studies (GBS), a pioneering force of business education in Hong Kong and globally, hosted the Global Business Forum and Dinner on 20 April 2024. More than 140 industry leaders, faculty members, representatives from partner universities, alumni, and students gathered to mark this milestone.
Inspiring the future of business in the AI era
The forum featured a lineup of thought-provoking speakers who shed light on business innovations and challenges in the AI Era. Mr Jason Leung (GBS 2013), Head of Asia-ex-Japan Financial Technology Group at Goldman Sachs, emphasised the importance of adapting to and integrating AI in the financial sector, as well as the indispensable role of soft skills. Mr Chris Shum, Co-founder and CEO of Asiabots Limited, delved into the application of generative AI technology across industries. Mr Timothy Leung, Executive Director of HKAI Lab, shared insights on propelling AI development in Hong Kong through fostering collaboration and harnessing talent.
The forum also featured a panel discussion with distinguished speakers, including Mr Matthew Chan, Chief Digital Officer of Jardine Restaurant Group; Mr Arnold Cheung, Co-founder and CEO of Profind; Ms Wendy Chow, Head of Information and Communications of InvestHK; Professor Wong Kam-fai, Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, LegCo Member, and Associate Dean of Faculty of Engineering at CUHK; and Ms Steffanie Yuen, Managing Director and Head of Hong Kong of Endowus. The discussion provided valuable insights into AI’s business applications across sectors.
Marching forward with new strategic partnership
The celebration culminated in the evening with the announcement of the formation of the Asian Business Education Network (ABEN) at the dinner. The collaborative network comprises eight business institutions at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, National Chiayi University, National Tsing Hua University, National University of Singapore, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Thammasat University, and CUHK.
The establishment of ABEN represents a shared commitment to fostering strong international partnerships and providing students with an expanded network and enhanced learning opportunities to succeed in the ever-evolving business landscape.
The evening was filled with captivating performances by multi-talented students, memorable moments and joyous reunions of the GBS community.
