For most family businesses, planning for succession is the toughest and most critical challenge they face. In light of this, Joseph Fan, Professor of School of Accountancy and Department of Finance and Co-director of Institute of Economics and Finance at The Chinese University of Hong Kong Business School, has published a new book, The Family Business Map, which offers practical tips for family business entrepreneurs who are encountering or will be dealing with succession issues down the road.

In the book, Prof. Fan and his coauthor Morten Bennedsen, the André and Rosalie Hoffmann Chaired Professor of Family Enterprise and Professor of Economics at INSEAD, offer a blend of real-life case studies and research insights into the sustainability of family business. Through the book, they aim at helping family businesses improve their long-term planning and overcome some of the challenges of expanding their firms through future generations.
