Proactivity in its social context: how others affect and are affected by employee proactivity

Research Interest
Employee proactivity occurs in a social context. It can be influenced by others such as leaders and colleagues, proactivity can also have an effect them. For example, leaders have a strong impact on whether employees do or do show proactivity. Also, although employee proactivity generally has positive performance outcomes and is usually constructively intended, for others in the workplace it is not always easy to deal proactivity with given its change oriented nature. In this talk I focus on proactivity in its social context and present some of the research we have been doing on how employee voice, initiativeand other forms of proactivity affect and are affected by leaders and colleagues.
