On 13 February 2015, Prof. Kalok Chan, Dean of CUHK Business School and Wei Lun Professor of Finance met with a group of journalists from eight mainstream local daily newspapers, including Hong Kong Economic Times, Ming Pao Daily News, Oriental Daily News, Sing Tao Daily News, The Sun, The Standard, Ta Kung Pao and Wen Wei Po.
During the meeting, Prof. Chan shared his vision and mission as the new Dean, as well as his views on how universities are fostering an entrepreneurial environment for young people in Hong Kong. Given that a number of faculty members will be retiring in the next 3-5 years, Dean Chan said the School will be hiring more new faculty members to fill the openings and cope with the enrollment growth and curriculum expansion. The new hires will account for about 25 percent of the School’s current faculty size.
In addition, Dean Chan also indicated that CUHK Business School plans to launch a minor program on entrepreneurship in 2016, not only for its own undergraduate students but also students from other faculties at CUHK.
