CUHK ranks 17th worldwide for real estate research leadership

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has been ranked 17th worldwide in the Real Estate Academic Leadership (REAL) Institutional Rankings for 2020-2024. Among institutions in Asia, CUHK is placed second and leads the field in Hong Kong.

The REAL rankings rigorously evaluate the number of articles published in the top three real estate research journals over the past five years—The Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, The Journal of Real Estate Research, and Real Estate Economics. During the review period, CUHK Business School contributed 15 publications to these prestigious journals.

This achievement underscores CUHK’s global research leadership and its steadfast commitment to academic excellence and impactful scholarship. Driving this success is the Centre for Hospitality and Real Estate Research, established in 1999 under the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at CUHK Business School. The Centre has grown into a renowned industry knowledge hub and a leading source of cutting-edge research and executive education for the hospitality and real estate sectors.

Professor Robert Li Xiang, Director of School of Hotel and Tourism Management, remarks, “This achievement is truly remarkable and speaks volumes about the outstanding work of our modest team of real estate colleagues. While rankings are not our primary goal, they serve as a valuable endorsement of the quality of our work and the impact SHTM is making.”
