CUHK Business School academia turns sustainable insight into impact in The Economist’s event

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School partnered with Economist Impact to empower business leaders in accelerating the sustainability transition across Asia. At the Sustainability Week Asia in Bangkok on 25-26 March 2025, our academic experts engaged with around 1,000 senior business and sustainability leaders, sharing insights to shape a more sustainable future.

CUHK Business School was proud to contribute to the dialogue through two spotlight interviews featuring Professor Lisa Wan Chun-ying and Professor Johnny Li Siu-hang.

Professor Wan explored sustainable tourism, addressing the environmental impact of hospitality and tourism. She delved into the sector’s vast energy and water consumption, and the role of psychological distance tourists perceive in waste generation. Professor Wan introduced the idea of ‘green luxury’, blending opulence beyond materialism with sustainability, as the basis for creating brand-new experiences for eco-conscious travellers.
