CUHK Business School PhD students shine in 2024 International Space Science and Payload Competition

Congratulations to the two PhD students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School who clinched the Bronze Award among more than 200 teams globally at the 2024 International Space Science and Payload Competition (ISSSP). The finals were held at Yasumoto International Academic Park in CUHK from 12 to 13 August 2024.

Supervised by Professor Lisa Wan, Acting Director of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the winning team proposed an innovative idea of using a space social robot to provide timely psychological and emotional support in response to mental health challenges that astronauts face during missions. The team also highlighted the potential of deploying the robot to provide support for space tourists and elderly living alone in the future, creating not only new business opportunities but also societal benefits.

Co-organised by the Chinese Society of Astronautics, the Beijing Institute of Technology, International Academy of Astronautics and CUHK, the ISSSP aims to nurture outstanding talent in space science and payload technology, promote innovative scientific ideas and advanced aerospace technologies worldwide, and ultimately benefit the humanity.
