CUHK Business School Students Present Their Posters at the “Free Trade and Globalisation – The Hong Kong Experience in Retrospect and the Prospects” Seminar

Six teams of CUHK Business School students presented their posters during the intermission sessions at the seminar themed “Free Trade and Globalisation – The Hong Kong Experience in Retrospect and the Prospects” in W Hong Kong on 1 December.

Six teams of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School students presented their posters during the intermission sessions at the seminar themed “Free Trade and Globalisation – The Hong Kong Experience in Retrospect and the Prospects” in W Hong Kong on 1 December 2017. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, the seminar reviewed Hong Kong’s past success in promoting free trade and regional economic integration and explored the prospects ahead.

Two months before the seminar, 19 undergraduate students from Global Business StudiesGlobal Economics and FinanceIntegrated BBAInternational Business and Chinese Enterprise and Professional Accountancy programmes researched on salient issues surrounding Hong Kong’s economy in the past two decades. They were supervised by the School’s teaching staff including Dr. David Chow, Senior Lecturer of Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics; Dr. Fred Ku, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies), Director of Integrated BBA Programme and Senior Lecturer of Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics; Dr. Anson Au Yeung, Co-director of Asian Business Studies Programme and Senior Lecturer of Department of Finance; and Dr. Andrew Yuen, Senior Lecturer of Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics and Associate Director (e-Learning) of MBA Programmes. On the day of seminar, the students introduced their display panels showcasing their research findings to Mr. Edward Yau Tang-wah, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Ms. Salina Yan, Director-General of Trade and Industry; Prof. Fanny Cheung, Prof-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and other guests.

The seminar was co-organised by Hong Kong, China’s APEC Business Advisory Council and the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, with the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies of CUHK as the supporting organisation. Renowned speakers from business and local universities were invited to share their insights on globalisation and regional integration with approximately 200 participants.
