GBS Alumna Named on Forbes 30 Under 30’s Social Entrepreneurs’ list in Europe

GBS alumna Bonnie Chiu has recently been named as one of Forbes 30 Under 30’s Social Entrepreneurs’ list in Europe.

Bonnie Chiu, a Global Business Studies (GBS) alumna and co-founder and CEO of Lensational, has recently been named as one of Forbes 30 Under 30’s Social Entrepreneurs’ list in Europe.

At just 24 years old, Chiu is the founder of the non-profit social enterprise Lensational, which aims to empower marginalised women by offering them training in photography. Since launching in 2013, the organisation has expanded to a team of 50 volunteers who have trained 300 women across nine developing countries. Outside of Lensational, Chiu is the Managing Director at The Social Investment Consultancy. Chiu is now pursuing a master’s degree at the London School of Economics.

Commenting on Chiu and her social enterprise, Forbes says that “initially founded in Chiu’s home city of Hong Kong, Lensational is now empowering marginalised women in 15 countries by providing them with a camera, training and a platform to sell their work. Chiu also serves as the managing director of The Social Investment Consultancy, a London-based consultancy advising clients ranging from UNICEF to Kettle Foods.”

Chiu shared her feeling of being chosen as one of Forbes 30 Under 30’s Social Entrepreneur’s list in Europe: “Thank you to all of my team members, supporters and friends along the way. In light of the Women’s March on Washington, I hope this recognition will allow more voices of marginalised women to be heard to achieve a gender equal future.”
