Three Teams Awarded the Champion and Merit in the HKICPA Qualification Programme Case Analysis Competition

Every year, the QP Case Analysis Competition brings together students in accounting and business to investigate and analyse a specific business case for a corporation.

Organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Qualification Programme (QP) Case Analysis Competition brings together students in accounting and business to investigate and analyse a specific business case for a corporation every year. In this edition of the competition, three teams from CUHK Business School swept away the Champion and Merit awards on November 27, 2016.

The champion team comprised international students – Karen Zhou Qiuyuan (Professional Accountancy [PACC], Year 3), Genie Yee Sye-ying (PACC, Year 3), Debbie Chen Tzu-ying (PACC, Year 3) and Kedves Pascal E (Integrated Business Administration [IBBA], Year 3) – who come from China, Malaysia, Taiwan and Germany respectively. All the three Professional Accountancy Programme students are from the Global Accounting Stream.

Two other teams formed by students from CUHK and other local institutions were also selected as the Merit teams. Our student members in the teams included: Chan Yin-tung (Global Economics and Finance [GLEF], Year 2), Ngai Tsun-lok (International Business and Chinese Enterprise [IBCE], Year 2) and Lai Kin-ngai (Insurance, Financial and Actuarial Analysis [IFAA], Year 2); Leung Kwan-yin (IBBA, Year 1), Dominic Leung Cheuk-wai (GLEF, Year 1) and Sen Wing-chi (PACC, Year 1).

The QP Case Analysis Competition is an inter-tertiary event that aims to develop students’ business skills, cultivate their professional judgment and prepare them for the business environment. The competition offers them a chance to excel and showcase their abilities and to bring their talents into full play.
