An online survey ranks the five best- and worst-paying jobs for fresh graduates in five Asian markets. Quoted in the press release for the survey results announcement after an interview with jobsDB, Dr. Andy Wong emphasizes that a combination of hard knowledge and soft skills are always a winning formula for graduates to get a clear edge over their peers.

According to regional job-seeking portal jobsDB, companies offer the highest salaries to fresh graduates (those with less than two years’ work experience) who perform job functions in banking and finance, professional services (compliance, consultancy and legal services) and information technology positions in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

Quoted in the press release for the survey results announcement after an interview with jobsDB, Dr. Andy Wong, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Business School, says that the banking and finance industries are undoubtedly the most stable and reliable source of quality jobs. Good salaries, structured career path and perceived social prestige associated with being a banker are all key factors that attract fresh graduates.

Dr. Wong adds that a combination of hard knowledge and soft skills are always a winning formula for graduates to get a clear edge over their peers. Having a good mathematical mind, high proficiency in English and interpersonal skills are also essential. What is most important is a positive attitude to learn and grow.
