On Wednesday 11 May, over 120 MBA alumni and students gathered at Azure Restaurant and Slash Bar at Hotel LKF by Rhombus for a happy hour event. The gathering was quite unusual as it was not just a regular MBA networking event, but rather more special in order to bid farewell to Prof. Michael Ferguson, Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) and Director of MBA Programs.

Attendees were welcomed to the new venue, with its trendy and modern design overlooking the dramatic night-time scenery of Victoria Harbour. The MC, Ms. Florence Lai, Alumni and Corporate Affairs Director, greeted the guests and unveiled a magnificent cupcake tower, specially made for the function. She invited Prof. Ferguson to start the proceedings by taking the first piece of cake. Everyone was amazed with the lovely design of the cupcake tower, not to mention its great taste!

Prof. Ferguson was grateful to the alumni and students for their attendance. “I recognise many faces here, and some of you have been my friends for a very long time. Your support of the MBA programs and the friendship you’ve given me over the past 20 years has made my life more rewarding.” His recollections of teaching at CUHK added a touching note to the evening, capturing everyone’s attention and drawing rounds of applause. “Last but not least, my big thanks goes to the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office for putting together such a wonderful party, plus the beautiful cake which I don’t dare eat because it’s more like a work of art!” he said.

Prof. Ferguson then introduced his successor, Ms. Stephanie Villemagne, who is currently taking a designate role and will be working full time from August. Together, they led a toast to commemorate this happy occasion.

Fellow alumni, students and faculty members had a good time mingling and networking with each other. Of course, no one would have missed the opportunity to take photos, or even selfies, with Prof. Ferguson. On behalf of the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office, we extend our best wishes to him.
