THU-CUHK FMBA Financial Summit and New Year Party a Rousing Success

Organised by the Tsinghua University-The Chinese University of Hong Kong MBA Program in Finance, the THU-CUHK FMBA Financial Summit and 2017 New Year Party were held together on Saturday, 3 December 2016 at the ballroom of Le Méridien Huizhou in Shenzhen.

Organised by the Tsinghua University-The Chinese University of Hong Kong MBA Program in Finance, the THU-CUHK FMBA Financial Summit and 2017 New Year Party were held together on Saturday, 3 December 2016 at the ballroom of Le Méridien Huizhou in Shenzhen. The annual event attracted over 300 participants, making it the largest networking reunion ever held for all FMBA students and alumni in southern China.

The half-day summit was kicked off by Prof. Wu Xiaofeng, Associate Dean of Tsinghua University’s Graduate School in Shenzhen. Featured were distinguished leaders across different sectors who shared their views on the global economy as speakers and panellists, including Dr. Nie Qingping, Chairman of China Securities Finance Co. Ltd.; Prof. Wang Tianyi, General Manager of China Everbright International Limited; Dr. Lin Li, Chief China Economist of Noble Resources; Dr. Yifan Hu, Managing Director and Regional Chief investment Officer in Greater China of UBS; Prof. Wang Jian, Assistant Dean (Academic) of the School of Management and Economics at CUHK (Shenzhen); and Prof. Terence Chong, Executive Director of the Lau Chor Tak Institute of Global Economics and Finance; with Prof. Liu Ming, Director of the FMBA Program, acting as panel moderator.

At 6:30pm, the venue swiftly transformed for a Chinese banquet with over 30 tables. Apart from the delicious food, the lively program featured a toast, singing, dancing and a fashion show hosted by alumni and students. A lucky draw was also held with over 50 fabulous prizes, including the grand prize of a RMB 49,800 sponsorship for an executive training course at Tsinghua University. The unforgettable evening concluded with an eye-catching 10-minute fireworks display.

Delighted with the event’s success, Prof. Liu Ming commented, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Organising Committee for putting together such an amazing celebration.
