A Fascinating First “Industry Insights”: Innovation & Digital
As innovation in the digital sphere continues to transform and shape our world, understanding this rapidly evolving arena has become vital for many professionals. With this in mind, “Innovation & Digital” was the theme of the inaugural talk in the new “Industry Insights” speaker series.
Organised by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office, the talk was held on 19 July in the CUHK Business School Town Centre, attracting more than 40 alumni and students. Speaking at the event were two business leaders, both of them MBA alumni: Mr. Ivan Chan, Managing Director of Accenture Digital, and Mr. Paul Sin, Partner at Deloitte China. Each discussed their personal journey towards developing expertise in innovation and digital. They also shared professional advice, and analysed interesting, topical issues across a range of industries through the prism of their real-life experiences.
Mr. Chan remarked, “Digitalisation such as fintech has disrupted and transformed the way we do business, whether you like it or not. To shift to the field of innovation and digital, you must be prepared for the challenge of going outside your comfort zone. The fast-changing nature of the profession makes this an exciting proposition.” Mr. Sin added, “As business professionals, it’s always important for us to equip ourselves with new skills and knowledge to navigate the increasingly complicated and volatile business environment, particularly in today’s digital world.”
After the presentations, an interactive Q&A session prompted fascinating discussions between the speakers and audience. Ms. Florence Lai, Director of the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office, said she was glad to receive positive feedback from the session’s participants, adding, “The ‘Industry Insights’ series will continue to explore the kinds of interesting, useful topics that aid our alumni and students with staying relevant in the changing business landscape and advancing their careers.”
