On 29 August, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School held an inauguration ceremony to welcome the new undergraduate class of 2022 to the School’s community.
In celebration of the 35th anniversary of BBA in Professional Accountancy (PACC) Programme, the School of Accountancy at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School organised a dinner event at New World Millennium Hotel Hong Kong on 12 August, gathering 120 guests from professional firms and associations, alumni and faculty members.
Many people’s impression of accounting work is that it is inherently repetitive and, more importantly, “all about the numbers”. Yet Loretta Fong (PACC 1993) has a different take on the entire matter: “Numbers are merely health indexes. What accountants truly need to do is to feel the pulse of a business by analysing its performance, diagnosing problems and prescribing treatment. It gives me great satisfaction to see businesses thrive operationally and financially as a result.”
Singaporean student Yee Yan Ng (BBA-JD, Year 5) loves to leverage undiscovered opportunities. She believes that life is full of unexpected surprises if one opens their mind to them. And her life has certainly taken unexpected turns. Since joining the inaugural class of CUHK’s BBA-JD double degree programme, she has unearthed a bevy of extraordinary opportunities for personal and professional growth, and a fantastic university life.
A team of four CUHK Business School undergraduate students won the championship and Best Debater Award at the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (TIHK) Tax Debate Competition held virtually on 28-29 May and 5 June 2022.
