So, too, is having a successive stream of passionate, outstanding educators committed to constantly enhancing teaching methods and raising the standards of students to stay ahead in a rapidly changing world. For over six decades, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School has fostered and cultivated diverse generations of students. As a professor in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), Dr Andrew Yuen (MPhil in Business Economics 2003, Integrated BBA 1999), Senior Lecturer of the Department of Decisions, Operations and Technology and Director of Executive MBA Programme, is determined to continue the legacy, nurturing future generations with the wisdom of the forerunners, the knowledge of the times and the humanistic spirit of the School.

Norris Lam (IBBA 1997), partner at Forbes Global and a financial industry veteran, has spent much of her illustrious career managing investments with astronomical values. Despite having been immersed in the dizzying world of finance, Norris refuses to be enslaved by money; she would rather create a profound impact with it than amass enormous wealth.

For 60 years, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and CUHK Business School have nurtured countless exceptional talent for both business and society. Many graduates have later returned to campus to contribute to the school’s development. One of them is Prof. Michael Fung, professor at the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics. Over the last four decades, his affection for CUHK, the Business School and his students has grown in tandem with his progression from student to teacher. He is also deeply attached to his alma mater’s collegiate system, campus culture and humanistic spirit.

As awareness of gender equality grows, women are flourishing across sectors and industries. Many have even become powerful drivers of politics and business. However, many women around the world continue to face various forms of inequality and are denied the opportunity for an education. Bonnie Chiu (GBS 2013), co-founder of Lensational, an international social enterprise, recognises that rights should never be taken for granted. While studying at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School, she decided to use her knowledge to help underrepresented women express themselves and seek development opportunities through photography.

Since graduating from CUHK, Peter Yan (BBA 1985) has been fully-dedicated to the information technology sector. Starting from his first job as a consultant to his current role as Cyberport’s Chief Executive Officer, his love for technologies has never waned. He credits the drive to keep up with technological advancements as the secret in sustaining the passion throughout his almost 40-year journey, which began with his first computer.

Peter Hung (BBA in Marketing 1980), President, Licensing and Branded Ventures of Forbes Global Media Holdings, has excelled in the international business arena ever since graduating from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. With strong, sustaining affection for his alma mater, Peter continues to care for his professors and peers. He encourages the younger generation of students to keep learning and actively assists them in expanding their horizons and achieving their goals.

Augustus Tang’s (BBA 1982) childhood dream of flying has turned into a 40-year high-flying career in aviation management. After spreading his wings in fields such as marketing, air traffic rights negotiations, international affairs and outport management, Augustus shifted flight paths this year, leaving his role as CEO of Cathay Pacific Airways to become a Director at John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Limited. Through it all, he has pursued a constant quest for new horizons.

For six decades, CUHK Business School has cultivated a long line of successful elites who have become prominent figures in business and society, both locally and internationally. Many have also made significant contributions to the country’s economic development. At the heart of this breeding ground for global business leaders are scholars who are passionate about education and research and committed to the growth of the School. One of them is Prof. Kam-hon Lee, Emeritus Professor of Marketing (BBA 1967, MBA 1969). A scholar renowned for his wisdom and foresight, Prof. Lee has dedicated his life to advancing the School, helping students reach their full potential and nurturing exceptional talent.
