The world’s economic center of gravity has shifted to the East with the rise of Asia. Asia now makes up more than 60 percent of the world population, is the fastest-growing region and has three countries among the Top 10 global economies, including China as the second largest economy. It is an exciting time for business schools in the region, as they play a critical role in contributing to its economic transformation and social development.
As one of the pioneering business schools in Hong Kong since 1963 and with a rich and long history in Hong Kong and mainland China, CUHK Business School has been offering a comprehensive set of programs at all levels, and has developed an extensive alumni network of over 32,000 business professionals worldwide. With its historical ties to China, a new campus in Shenzhen and a faculty with in-depth business knowledge of both China and global markets, the School is ideally positioned to continue to help China to advance its economy and compete in the global arena. Furthermore, in this globalization era, the School will recruit talents not only locally and from the mainland, but also from Asia and the rest of the world. This means besides contributing to the socio-economic development of Hong Kong and the mainland, the School can expand its influence in the global market.
In the 21st century, business, political, social and environmental issues are extremely complex and have become increasingly intertwined. Our students need to be equipped with diverse knowledge and skills to meet those challenges. At the same time, they need to develop a global mindset to be able to work successfully in the fast-changing world. Being part of a comprehensive university, our School can offer its students a broad-based education so they can be well prepared for the complex challenges ahead after they graduate. We will make sure that our programs are innovative and respond continuously to the ever-changing needs of the society, and strive to provide a top-notch learning environment and stimulating educational experience for all students.
Innovation in research and business practices go hand in hand. Our research should therefore be both academically excellent and highly relevant in the real world. CUHK Business School has built a platform for its faculty to produce high-quality research, disseminate the knowledge to various stakeholders, and to interact with the business community in discovering best market practices. With the rise of Asia, our research has the potential of influencing discussions on important business and economic issues specific to the region, making an impact on its future development.
We look forward to working closely with the community that extends beyond the walls of our School—our alumni, corporate partners and other key stakeholders, with a shared vision of making the world a better place to be.
